What is the difference between cancellation and non-renewal?
Cancellation and non-renewal both leave you without insurance. Cancellation stops a policy before the end of its term and usually happens either because payments were missed or the insurance company discovers new information that makes them change their minds about you.
Non-renewal happens when the policy term is over and the company decides it will not allow you to continue your policy into a new term. This could be because of something that is your fault (too many accidents or late payments) or something that is not your fault - like the company is no longer insuring people in your state.
