Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) is a nationally-funded program that provides cash assistance and services to low income families with children, or to pregnant women. Generally, those who qualify for TANF may receive benefits for 5 years or less.

You may qualify for TANF if you are a member of a family that:

Has at least one child
Has at least one adult that is meeting specific work requirements (such as working a certain number of hours, or going to work after completing a training program)
Has a low income
